Coelho “The Alchemist” take place. The Fayum oasis is associated in Egyptian legends with a bud on the branch of the Nile and with an “earthly paradise” in the desert. It depends on the waters of the river, and not on streams or springs, like a real oasis. The water is distributed over the lowlands thanks to a canal system dating back to ancient times, which creates this island of palm trees surrounded by sand and covered with lush vegetation separating cotton and clover fields. As for the best time to visit, the winters in Fayoum are warmer and drier than in Cairo, and the summers are milder than in Upper Egypt. In spring, the cold khamsin wind covers everything with dust, so plan your trip to Fayum carefully.
